CAMPUS PASTOR STEVE LOMBARDO

I do not remember a time in my life when I did not believe in Jesus. I grew up in a Christian home with parents who told us the truth but also lived it out every day, but it really wasn't until junior high that I began to understand what it meant to live as a follower of Christ. As I was growing and really making the faith my own, I was convicted by Galatians 6:7-9, which are now some of my favorite Scriptures.

There have been times in my life where God has worked on me through the pain and sorrow of sin, in which He graciously led me to repentance. I am a sinner who is selfish, and the Lord is constantly turning me back to His way and not mine.

As far back as I can remember, the Lord has been gently tugging me towards giving my life to him, not only in salvation, but also for full-time service. God called me to shepherd His people in a dramatic way. The Lord gave me a convicting picture of all the lost people going to hell, and the sad thing was, I didn’t really care. I was concerned about my salvation, and my family’s, and my friend’s salvation, but my heart did not beat with God’s, who desires all to be saved. (1 Tim. 2:4) It was then and there that God solidified His call on my life to proclaim the gospel to a lost world, to shepherd, serve, equip, and protect His people.

God's way for me led me to Wheaton College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School to be trained as a pastor. While I am thankful for those years, I have learned so much more being a pastor in a variety of roles for over 20 years.

Thankfully, He has given me an incredible wife and three kids whom I am accountable for. Additionally, it is a great honor and privilege to shepherd God's people at Village, but also a weighty responsibility because I am also accountable to God for them.
